The SL-5000, SL-5500 and A300 run Linux. There are also other Japanese models running a proprietary operating system. or there are 12 screws holding it together - pop off th ekeyboard and the hidden one is beneath the email key
10:55.21charanibot  sl-5500
10:55.22extra, extra, read all about it, sl-5500 is the first Linux based retail version of the Zaurus. It has 64 MB RAM and 16 MB ROM.

13:17.50absentianot at killefiz ?
13:20.15absentiacan I run netfront from sharp under oz that's compiled with gcc 3 ?
13:20.24Faremithro: get a quad P4 3GHz machine for cross-compilation :)
13:20.47Fareabsentia: maybe. But I find that netfront sucks.
13:20.56absentiawhat is faster than netfront ?
13:20.57Fareis netfront the one on C700?
13:21.05absentiakonq is so slow... it's like frozen
13:21.07absentiacompared to netfront
13:21.13Farenetfront strips files to 65534 bytes
13:21.14absentiaya, under the sharp rom
13:21.18absentiait's amazingly fast, compared to konq.
13:21.19Farethat's a showstopper to me
13:21.25absentiaheheh
13:21.28absentiaman
13:21.34absentiaI downloaded opera7 this weekend..
13:21.39absentiathat's my new browser of choice.
13:21.44absentiait's absolutely amazing.
13:21.50Fareabsentia: they have z binaries for grabs?
13:22.13absentiaer, no
13:22.20absentiathere is netfront on the sharp rom
13:22.32absentiaI haven't looked to see if there is an embedded / arm version of opera 7
13:22.37absentiathey don't have freebsd either
13:22.42absentiaso I downloaded the linux binary...
13:22.55absentiaand it still runs faster than konq (about 4x or so) and mozilla... (2x) on freebsd
13:23.31absentiaya
13:24.37absentiathey have versions for smart phones and pdas
13:24.49absentiabut I didn't see linux/zaurus listed.. (but I didn't look that hard)
13:25.26Solar[X]The 3.10 rom for 5500 has Opera, I made an ipk using the creator thingy on killefiz.
13:25.33Solar[X]It's only 6.0 though.
13:26.25absentiayup
13:26.29absentiaopne 6.1 for solaris
13:26.32absentiaso f'n lame
13:26.46absentiasolar: ya, I want to run that under gcc3 OZ
13:26.53absentiathat's the ONLY thing keeping me from going to oz.
13:27.10Solar[X]Ohh
13:27.35Solar[X]Opera isn't open source, unfortunately.
13:28.37absentiayup
13:28.49absentiaopera 7.11 for linux.. but not for solaris, freebsd.. etc.
13:28.55absentiamakes me wonder what the hell is holding it back.
13:30.27absentiamithro: did you have to do anything special ?
13:30.28Harlekinmithro: ?
13:30.32Harlekinmithro: how that?
13:30.37Harlekinmithro: is opera a static build?
13:30.51absentiaprobably just copied the libg* files for it.
13:31.04Harlekinabsentia: would need its own qt too
13:31.09absentiaI noticed that for solaris, they offer opera qt static and opera qt shared
13:31.13mithroi used my oz-compat packages
13:31.20absentiamithro: where are those ?
13:31.21Harlekinmithro: whats in there?
13:31.41absentiathis should be documented somewhere
13:31.48mithroHarlekin: qte/qpe compiled with 2.95.2
13:31.48absentiaI think a lot more people would go to OZ if they could run netfront.
13:31.59Harlekinmithro: uh, size?
13:32.05Harlekinwhat is netfront?
13:32.15absentiaopera 6 on sharp rom (?)

13:33.16mithronot yet
