16:50.31aeryndunhamUgh why I am so tired. I feel like my limbs are made of lead.
16:50.36frostyfrogjima, master of desks
16:50.52frostyfrogaeryndunham: Did you happen to eat a lot of lead yesterday?
16:50.56frostyfrogbecause if you did
16:51.02frostyfrogThat could be why
16:51.10aeryndunhamAhh is that it? Thanks :p
16:51.20frostyfrogAlso, it sounds like a bad idea to eat a lot of lead
16:51.23frostyfrog:p
16:51.27frostyfrogNo problem
16:52.06frostyfrogis in a chipper and mischieveous mood this morning :D
16:52.55aeryndunhamwants to be chipper. I've got a long to-do list today.
16:53.19frostyfrogIt helps to wake up earlier
16:53.53spangbornFalse
16:53.57spangbornWaking up early suuuuucks
16:54.15keldwudI disagree
16:54.15frostyfrogOnly because you got to bed late
16:54.18keldwudwaking up late sucks
16:54.23keldwudI hate waking up late :(
16:54.44aeryndunhamI had an alarm set for really early, and it went off but not audibly? and so I slept nearly 2 more hours :/
16:55.32spangbornWaking up late is great
16:55.38spangbornSleep is the best part of everything
16:58.17frostyfrogi hate sleep
16:58.39aeryndunhamSleep IS great, but i actually think I've been getting too much
16:58.49frostyfroghttps://cf.girlsaskguys.com/a33007/1582b42c-7e22-45e2-a7ef-568abbb8bafb.jpg
16:59.14aeryndunhamIt's really odd in that I'm NEVER late for stuff, I've almost never in my life slept through something I meant to be at, but when I have no concrete time I NEED to be up I like physically cannot drag myself out of bed
16:59.26keldwudI hate sleep, too
17:00.26jima"frostyfrog is in a chipper" that sounds dangerous. have you ever seen 'fargo?'
17:00.48frostyfroglol
17:01.29aeryndunhamhaha
17:01.32frostyfrogaeryndunham: Here's what I do when I want to get up in the morning: *notice that I am conscious* "Hey google? Play All Star"
17:01.41aeryndunhamhahaha
17:03.16keldwudomg ew
17:03.44keldwudnow I have to put something in my ears to wash them out from your mentioning it
17:04.42frostyfrogWell, I can't enjoy it if I want to get up. Otherwise I'll go back to sleep. Can't have that :p

19:27.35keldwudam I over-engineering this? I want to run some database containers and since they have persistent data, I'll be using volumes. This is standard practice as far as I can tell. What I want to do is take that a step further because the data is still coupled with the host. I'd like to decouple the data and attach the docker volume to a filesystem that is not on the root filesystem.
19:28.06keldwudSo far I've been able to just mount the default docker /var/lib/docker/volumes/<volumeName>/_data to /dev/whatever, right? And I've successfully written data to the volume from the container and verified it persists
19:28.33keldwudhowever, once it comes to having postgres or mysql write data to those volumes, well permissions become an issue
19:29.18keldwudand I'm wondering if it is worth pushing forward and resolving the wonky permissions chain between docker, the mount, and the docker volumes or if I'm just over-engineering and should just be happy with having the persistent data on the root filesystem
19:30.04keldwudhaving it on the other filesystem will be nice because that will be an AWS volume that I can attach and detach at will which gives me more confidence in the durability of my data
19:30.12keldwudthoughts, opinions, feedback?
19:30.35keldwuddurability *and* portability

22:50.15keldwudwhich date option gives output in iso 8601 format?
22:50.33keldwudlike %D gives the funny date format
22:51.17keldwudor do I just have to manually create it?
22:51.25frostyfrog-I[FMT], --iso-8601[=FMT]
22:51.29frostyfrogoutput date/time in ISO 8601 format.  FMT='date' for date only (the default), 'hours', 'minutes', 'seconds', or 'ns' for date and time to the indicated precision.  Example: 2006-08-14T02:34:56-06:00
22:51.37frostyfrog~the man pages
22:51.40keldwudoh derp, I was looking in the wrong section
22:51.47keldwudI was looking atthe FORMAT controls just below that
22:51.50frostyfrogYou can do / searches
22:51.56keldwudlol
22:51.58frostyfrogSo, /8601
22:52.57spangbornrofl https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltzy5vRmN8Q&feature=youtu.be
22:53.02keldwudyeah, I failed to read what was right in front of me :-p
22:53.05spangbornI'm dying at this ad
22:54.43frostyfrogSearching the man pages with '/' really helps. Especially when reading `man ffmpeg-all` or `man gcc`
22:57.17frostyfrogI chose those specifically because they are 304K and 296K (respectively) compressed on my system.
22:58.48keldwudwell I was using date --help and it was so short that I skimmed right over it
22:59.08keldwudI do tend to use / a lot in man pages, I just failed to apply it this time
22:59.16keldwudand paid the price for not doing it :)
