14:24.31ThorarinHmm well, isn't that more or less the goal of Neverwinter?
15:03.37IvnedarWe've discovered a way to make Conquest fun! :D
15:03.58IvnedarWe claimed the Thalin Tor tower building for our guild
15:04.01Ivnedarand defended it!
15:04.03Ivnedarfor the whole game
15:32.30ThorarinYou turned it into DAoC RvR :p
15:32.49ThorarinExcept there you could upgrade the keeps at least ;)
17:16.23seebsZorbaTHut: I know you occasionally look at game design stuff. You should browse/look-at Path of Exile. They've done a number of very interesting things, both in terms of business model and game design. Diablo clone. It has inventory tetris.

19:07.38ZorbaTHutseebs, I've been watching them for a while :) very interesting game design, though it hasn't been completely easy for them
19:08.35seebsApart from the inventory tetris, I quite like it. The currency-is-usable-items thing is nice, and I think they have solved the potion thing better than I've ever seen it solved before.
19:10.36seebsIt's interesting to note that they apparently have ~250 of their "you pay us $1k, we work with you on a unique item that goes in the game" items so far.
19:11.40seebsI am actually sort of tempted to buy some of their cosmetic-stuff currency just to be supportive.
19:14.51ZorbaTHutI ended up giving them $20 to get me and my wife into the closed beta. spent it all on stash tabs :V

20:05.46seebsI am not sure whether I will play enough to justify spending money. I really, really, do not like inventory tetris.
20:06.12seebsA friend pointed out to me the fundamental problem of inventory management in games: If you are having a really great time playing the game, and doing well, the reward is that you have to stop playing and do accounting.
20:22.53ZorbaTHuthah, yes
20:23.10ZorbaTHutfor all that I think PoE has some amazing design ideas in it, the inventory tetris is not exactly something I'm a fan of
20:23.16ZorbaTHutbut then again I still think Eve Online had the best inventory system ever
20:24.34Imhotharno freaking squares to care about
20:24.43Imhotharor slots or bags or meh
20:24.52ZorbaTHutyeah
20:25.16Imhothar"hmm I found a bag. wonder if I can increase its capacity by putting more bags into it"
