23:18.53skierpageWith Plasma 5.18.5 KDE Frameworks 5.73.0 on Fedora 32, I'm trying to add an Epson printer. Add a printer wizard finds "EPSON WF-3540 Series (fully driverless)", and I figured out its ipp address from CUPS admin (localhost:631). But when I click Next, it wants me to "Pick a Driver" ?!? So what does "driverless" mean?
23:19.48JanKusanagimaybe the wizard doesn't have a concept of "driverless printer"
23:20.01JanKusanagiwhich is a little weird btw, I guess there's some kind of "generic driver" for those
23:20.19JanKusanagibut that's more of a question about CUPS
23:20.28JanKusanagihave you tried from the CUPS wizard via browser?
23:24.26skierpageJanKusanagi: thanks so much! Besdies a lot of drivers under "Epson" in the list and also under "EPSON" I found "WF-3540 Series, fully driverlss, cups-filters 1.28.2 (en)" which is what I want. You're right, "driverless" is in the printer string, not something KDE is offering. The possible KDE glitch is this matching driver didn't show under "Recommended Drivers"
23:25.11skierpageI'll repeat from CUPS and see if it connects the found "driverless" printer to this "driverless" driver  ;-)
