01:53.44 | jalcine | KDE doesn't do that, the kernel handles that work |

05:59.55 | saintcajetan | Hello, I am wondering if anyone knows how to be able to change the default Instant messanger in KDE to Kopete for example, the default without the ability to add more is conversation. |
06:00.03 | saintcajetan | Opps I meant to say, Konversation |
06:01.28 | Jucato | konversation actually isn't an instant messenger. it's an IRC client. |

06:03.25 | Jucato | konversation doesn't handle instant messaging (like yahoo, msn, gtalk, etc.) directly (you can with something like Bitlbee). Kopete (and KDE Telepathy) can handle those but doesn't have support for IRC |
06:03.29 | saintcajetan | Jucato, still does not solve my problem. Well the main reason I want to be able to do that so in that system settings in KDE I can be able to add shortcuts to a certain program |
06:04.11 | saintcajetan | this time the certain program would be "Kopete" |
06:04.19 | *** join/#kde amizraa (~amizraa@gateway/tor-sasl/amizraa) |
06:04.24 | Jucato | I don't understand the problem since you can't set Konversation as "the default instant messenger in KDE" anyway. |
06:04.50 | saintcajetan | I am seeing for example when you go to system settings then go to (click) on Shortcuts and gestures |
06:05.22 | Jucato | then? |
06:05.25 | saintcajetan | Jucato, well when you click on default applications it only has as "instant messanger": Konversation |
06:05.33 | saintcajetan | so its a misspelling |

06:10.09 | sam113101 | Jucato: yes |
06:10.25 | saintcajetan | sam113101, sam you can be able to configure it to whichever way you want with the way I told you. |
06:11.01 | Jucato | sam113101: yeah I don't think that's possible as the middle mouse button is mapped to default actions throught the whole system (not just KDE, particularly, X uses it to "paste". slightly longer story) |
06:11.18 | sam113101 | Jucato: aaaww, shit |
06:11.57 | saintcajetan | Jucato, maybe it might be because of that, I am seeing if the alternative way to do it would be through adding "Global Keyboard Shortcuts" and then clicking on "File" on the upper right hand side and then importing scheme. |
06:12.04 | saintcajetan | Have you done that, how does that work? |
06:12.05 | sam113101 | Jucato: can I use the windows key to open up the kde menu? not a key combination, only the win key (just like on windows 8) |
06:12.13 | Jucato | sam113101: so left, middle, and right can be considered "hard coded" to certain actions (you can switch left and right though, but that's it). any other mouse button after those three, you can use. but I don't know how |

12:30.34 | Walex | daum_: so you SSH in, then 'xinit -- :1' and you have a new session :1 so you can do 'export DISPLAY=:1' |
12:32.12 | Walex | daum_: I often do something like that with 'screen': on the first 'screen' tab I start 'xinit -- :1', in the second 'screen' tab I say 'export DISPLAY=:1; startkde' |

12:36.00 | Walex | daum_: BTW if you often work remotely it may be better to setup a VNCserver, so it can be of arbitrary size, not of the size of your monitor. |
12:36.48 | Walex | daum_: for example I have on one PC a main X sessions with two 1920x1200 monitors, that's huge to access remotely, and leads to scrolling |
