00:06.35saintcajetan_DaZ, I am not talking about, however thanks for the input.
00:07.40saintcajetan_daz, I mean activities that I create you know like in the top right hand croner that little circle that you click and it gives you several options
00:08.00saintcajetan_"add panel add widgets Activities" etc....
00:08.06DaZso am i.
00:09.00DaZunless i've remapped it to do that and forgot about it :v
00:09.31saintcajetan_daz, winkey+tab only takes you to the different windows open within the same "desktop" space you put the given programs in. So in one activity you will have ten desktop spaces and that shortcut only chooses whatever is open in that specific desktop.
00:09.38saintcajetan_ahhh i see
00:09.42wgoslingDaZ: i think that is the default keybinding, as it took me to activities i didn't know i had

01:46.47triggerhappyAnyone know if a bug report has been filed (or if it has been fixed) regarding an odd behavior in kwallet? During startup, I have kmail attempting to open kwallet and prompt me to enter my kwallet password. That's fine and all but it seems that kwallet just locks up and refuses to open the wallet for kmail and any other application. The work around so far is to disable and then re-enable the whole kwallet subsystem for everything to work properly again.

01:51.40PoenikatuDoes anybody know how to add the i386 architecture in KDE (I'm using amd64)?
01:52.23SycokineticPoenikatu: uuhhhh... i'm not sure that's possible... i386 refers to the actual design of your hardware :/
01:52.56Sycokineticthough... i have been wrong before
01:53.18PoenikatuSycokinetic: I'm sure it's possible, because before I started using the full monty KDE I was using some KDE programs and I was able to run a 32-bit editor
01:53.44jalcineKDE doesn't do that, the kernel handles that work
01:54.11jalcinethe thing is, your package management system might prevent you from installing clashing arch's to keep dependencies sane
01:54.19jalcinedoesn't mean you can't tell it otherwise ;)
01:54.28SycokineticPoenikatu: yeah, that's why i'm confused about it. 64 bit architectures can run 32-bit, but lately i've been finding a lot of i386 software that yells at me
01:54.43Sycokineticderp
01:54.48Sycokinetic32 can run on 64
01:55.20PoenikatuThe fact is I simply don't remember what I did to enable 32-bit programs to run. I know that libraries can be qualified by :i386 to get the relevant version
01:56.13Sycokineticnow you've piqued my attention. i actually need this for work xD
01:59.04jalcineSycokinetic: it's something like this -> ia32-libs-dev on Debian systems.
02:00.11Sycokineticjalcine: errrr... would you happen to know of an equivalent for red hat? :s

02:00.47PoenikatuI certainly do not want to DEVELOP with 32-bit. It's just one program which is only available in 32-bit and it's my favourite editor.

02:02.03jalcinePoenikatu: Sublime?
02:02.48Sycokineticjalcine: ah, thank you :3
02:06.19Poenikatujalcine: The link does not answer the question "How can one run 32-bit programs on a Debian 64-bit system?"

02:09.41jalcineia32-libs seems to be have been removed in raring for Ubuntu, but it exists in wheezy (debian)

06:03.25Jucatokonversation doesn't handle instant messaging (like yahoo, msn, gtalk, etc.) directly (you can with something like Bitlbee). Kopete (and KDE Telepathy) can handle those but doesn't have support for IRC
06:03.29saintcajetanJucato, still does not solve my problem. Well the main reason I want to be able to do that so in that system settings in KDE I can be able to add shortcuts to a certain program
06:04.11saintcajetanthis time the certain program would be "Kopete"

06:05.22Jucatothen?
06:05.25saintcajetanJucato, well when you click on default applications it only has as "instant messanger": Konversation
06:05.33saintcajetanso its a misspelling

06:10.01saintcajetanJucato, Ohh I am using PC BSD, I am not sure which way it got installed. No I have had it installed for a while. I INstalled Kopete through the app cafe.
06:10.02Jucatosam113101: do you mean middle-click anywhere to make it do present windows?
06:10.09sam113101Jucato: yes
06:10.25saintcajetansam113101, sam you can be able to configure it to whichever way you want with the way I told you.
06:11.01Jucatosam113101: yeah I don't think that's possible as the middle mouse button is mapped to default actions throught the whole system (not just KDE, particularly, X uses it to "paste". slightly longer story)
06:11.18sam113101Jucato: aaaww, shit
06:11.57saintcajetanJucato, maybe it might be because of that, I am seeing if the alternative way to do it would be through adding "Global Keyboard Shortcuts" and then clicking on "File" on the upper right hand side and then importing scheme.
06:12.04saintcajetanHave you done that, how does that work?
06:12.05sam113101Jucato: can I use the windows key to open up the kde menu? not a key combination, only the win key (just like on windows 8)
06:12.13Jucatosam113101: so left, middle, and right can be considered "hard coded" to certain actions (you can switch left and right though, but that's it). any other mouse button after those three, you can use. but I don't know how

12:24.42Walexdaum_: your question is not clear. KDM is an *alternative* to the command line.
12:25.42Walexdaum_: you can get an X session in two ways: login to the command line and then use 'xinit' or 'startx' to initiate an X session, or launch KDM and that will start the X session and a login check
12:26.09daum_Walex, ha i know, so my X which i left logged in at home I had connected to via teamviewer, at somepoint KDE must of crashed as now the home machine is at the KDM login screen.  Just need to get that logged in

12:28.09daum_Walex, so you are saying kill the KDM process, then just do EXPORT="display:0" then xinit/starx?
12:29.58Walexdaum_: that would work. But you can also create an entirely new session on display 1.
12:30.34Walexdaum_: so you SSH in, then 'xinit -- :1' and you have a new session :1 so you can do 'export DISPLAY=:1'
12:32.12Walexdaum_: I often do something like that with 'screen': on the first 'screen' tab I start 'xinit -- :1', in the second 'screen' tab I say 'export DISPLAY=:1; startkde'

12:34.06daum_Walex, awsome worked perfectly thanks!
12:36.00Walexdaum_: BTW if you often work remotely it may be better to setup a VNCserver, so it can be of arbitrary size, not of the size of your monitor.
12:36.48Walexdaum_: for example I have on one PC a main X sessions with two 1920x1200 monitors, that's huge to access remotely, and leads to scrolling
12:37.32daum_yuh
12:37.37daum_i don't usually just on vacation right now
12:37.52daum_and now and then hop on the home machine for a url in my browser history etc.
12:38.09Walexdaum_: so I have two VNC servers for remote access, one with a 1280x720 virtual display size for access from 1366x768 laptops, the other 1600x1024 for access from other desktops.
12:38.36Walexdaum_: if you use a remote access method that is not VNC you can use 'xnest' to setup virtual displays.

22:32.19Spiffymanthere are two shortcuts that use it
22:33.30Spiffymanif you customize the shortcut to CTRL+SHIFT+W, it will tell you what the other one is and ask if you want to make it only 'close terminal'
