14:15.08zeuskwhat is nonHLOS ?
14:15.42*** join/#htc-linux mastermerlin (~Adium@p4FEE5B99.dip.t-dialin.net)
14:16.21Alex[sp3dev]i bet it is incredible crap
14:17.45phhsounds like modem OS ?
14:18.48Alex[sp3dev]mad googling skills tell me HLOS is an acronym for "hardware limited os"
14:19.09Alex[sp3dev]and qualcomm commits with "nonHLOS" string are related to shared memory
14:20.56zeuskbut isn't modem supposed to be running amss ?
14:21.20zeuskqct crap i guess
14:21.40Alex[sp3dev]i guess qcom has more lawyers and market people than engineers and they can come up with a dozen cool names for the same thing
14:21.58zeusklol
14:22.08Alex[sp3dev]besides modem, there are several dsp cores and they're also running some fw
14:22.09zeusktrue about lawyer part for sure
14:22.59zeuskbut dsp use smem ? doesn't appcpu communicate using rpc calls with dsp ?
14:23.44*** join/#htc-linux gauner1986 (~Miranda@ip-178-202-172-65.unitymediagroup.de)
14:24.30Alex[sp3dev]i would say every peripheral can access any other, depending on DMA security domains. i think DSP can smem/ram, but don't think it does

14:54.08zeuskwhat does this arm assembly do "b ."
14:54.29zeuskldr r4, =_main
14:54.32zeusk<PROTECTED>
14:54.33zeusk<PROTECTED>
14:56.11Alex[sp3dev]calling subroutine via pointer _main and possibly switching to thumb
14:57.15zeuski got the branch to main part but what is "b ." ?
14:57.21zeuskswitch to thumb mode ?
14:57.33Alex[sp3dev]b . is infinite loop
14:57.37zeuskoh
14:58.20zeuskthanks

15:45.42sado1disclaimer: I'm not a developer, just making some random things trying to get ubuntu on hd2 working with magldr, so feel free to ignore me if my questions just deserve it.
15:46.23sado1having said that... what could be wrong with a kernel, if magldr is stuck at gogogo?
15:48.04*** join/#htc-linux rpierce99 (~rpierce99@96-42-107-19.dhcp.stcd.mn.charter.com)
15:50.20sado1I tried to run evo kernel + ubuntu from 11.10 image, and that's the result. simply swapping the kernel to the one used in hd2 ubuntu releases manages to launch ubuntu login screen, but the kernel works well only with haret - that means, no touchscreen, wifi support
15:51.30Alex[sp3dev]go and fix touchscreen and wifi then. actually there may be a lot of reasons why the kernel fails to boot. the best thing you can do is to flash CLK and a bootable kernel. then, you can fastboot non-bootable kernel, reboot and read ramconsole
15:54.08sado1good point, thanks for the tip

16:05.15zeuskmagldr will *appear* to get stuck on go go go if kernel does not mess with teh framebuffer
16:05.23zeusklike you have console and boot image disabled
16:05.25zeuskOR
16:05.43zeuskif kernel crashes early, for that you can use services -> DUMP DMESG TO SD
16:06.11zeuskthat takes ramconsole dumps it in sdcard root (if formatted in fat32 and readable by mag) by the name DMESG.TXT
16:06.26zeuskor you can use lk as alex suggested
16:06.48zeusklk should be better choice imo as it doesn't put rmnet stuff.
16:07.15zeuskbut i could be wrong as well (said that as ubuntu uses ppp and rmnet is android crap if i'm not wrong)
16:07.51sado1dump dmesg didn't really work well for me, dmesg.txt was looking like a binary file
16:08.18zeuskthen the ramconsole address is either incorrect or the kernel did not put anything there ;)
16:08.32zeuskyou can try lk but i think it uses the same address
16:08.56zeuskhowever you have dump memory option and it is open source so you can change ramconsole addr for your kernel and recompile

17:05.24sado1hell yeah, it works ;o
17:06.48sado1I tried to boot ubuntu 11.10 and that was my mistake - the udev version included in 11.10 doesn't really work well with some arm devices
17:07.35sado1I just tried to launch the HARET-compatible image with evo kernel, and at least touchscreen responds (although like a touchpad, some xorg.conf tweaking needed) which is a good start.
17:09.29*** join/#htc-linux rajkosto (~rajkosto@212-200-65-115.3gnet.mts.telekom.rs)
17:38.50GNUtoo|laptopsado1, it's not dependant on the arm device but on the kenrel version
17:38.58GNUtoo|laptopudev requires certain syscall to be present
17:39.05GNUtoo|laptopelse it blocks during boot
17:39.09GNUtoo|laptoplike sysaccept_4
17:39.15GNUtoo|laptopor similar things
17:42.54sado1you're right, seems like it needs 2.6.38 or .39, I just incorrectly summed it up as "doesn't work with some devices"
17:44.02sado1I'll play with that one later, not much I can do with kernel version, as the latest thing on hd2 is .35, but I can try downgrading udev... working 10.04 on other than HARET bootloader is good enough for me now ;)
