16:25.49[acl]i need to clone myself .. to help out
16:26.27jonprywistilt2 is handling the sound. i've been trying to get wifi and hw3d running but its not pretty
16:26.37[acl]dang
16:28.02jonpryno idea what is going on with wifi. but pretty sure hw3d is never going to work until we can either get old style tls to work on 39, or patch the binary lib to use new tls

16:31.13hycand, from the sound of it, not actually too far from working
16:31.32[acl]hyc: jonpry thinks about the future..lol. he started tlaking about .35 like years ago and when we finally started it was too late :-(
16:31.41emwehyc: topa is basically fine for data and calls
16:31.54jonprygetting old tls in 39 should not be that difficult. i did something that should work and it just didn't
16:31.55[acl]emwe: sounds like you just volunteered to fix rhod :-p
16:31.56emwejust needs that finetuning lol.
16:32.07emwe[acl]: i am already at it :P
16:32.20[acl]emwe: alex's .35 for kov is prob the most maturer right?
16:32.27[acl]*mature
16:32.52jonpry39 is the best because it uses more .27 drivers than 35
16:32.58emwe[acl]: it is. thinking of rebasing on his. but we need to sort that out later.
16:33.12emwe[acl]: and i think we need some compromises on both sides
16:34.14[acl]yeah
16:34.53emwebut before i/we restart over and over again... i rather have rhod usable a bit better and then we can do whatever we wan't
16:35.03emwenever was in the keyboard business..
16:35.34[acl]im the oposite.. i think i have sausage fingers cuz the TS hates me
16:35.52[acl]i press A and a P comes out.. not sure why.. its not like they are next to each other :-p
16:36.46jonprywell 39 has ts and keyboard and lights and pm

16:38.32[acl]ur an animal
16:38.47jonpryit wasn't that hard :p
16:38.54[acl]either that or im just completely out of it
16:39.06[acl]was i gone for that long? jebus
16:39.27hyclol
16:39.38jonpryits easier if you start with a driver that you know works. then just figure out what is different in the kernel. usually change about 3 lines then its good to go
16:39.50[acl]well this is good news
16:40.04hyctrue, a lot of these drivers interfaces' haven't changed much at all
16:40.37hycbut on that topic, we really need to make proper input devices for raph-prox and the light sensor

16:46.14phhah that one.
16:46.19emweah, all hid. get it.
16:46.24phh[acl]: I've already said I hate it
16:46.26[acl]Alex[sp3dev]; experimenting with atags to pass wifi and ts calib like you suggestde
16:46.36jonpry[acl] its easy to build, you just have to rebuild system.img too. how can we setup an autobuild service on your little boxen?
16:46.44Alex[sp3dev][acl]: ok
16:46.51[acl]phh: thanks..
16:47.22hycthe alternative would be to seek out and eliminate extraneous printks
16:47.24WisTilt2[acl]: the only other way to fix that would be maybe put some kind of limit on how many bytes get transferred to the log from console so interrupts can be enabled again in a timely fashion until all bytes are transfered.
16:47.27phh[acl]: but that's not a reason not to make it go there :p
16:47.28emweif .35 counts, i have no clock drift. dunno if ril syncs from time to time, though.
16:47.36[acl]Alex[sp3dev]: but the way hd2 folks did the wifi seems really easy.. im using that for now
16:47.43hycno, ril only syncs once at first connection to network
16:47.56hycif you toggle airplane mode it will sync again then
16:47.57emweok. then i have no clock drift :P
16:48.19emwebut a little break. brb5.
16:49.02[acl]WisTilt2: hmm .. so this is purely console ?
16:49.12jonpryi wrote some garbage to use brcmfmac via CUSTOMER_HW2 yesterday
16:49.21WisTilt2yes, its happening during the call_console_drivers loop
16:49.34WisTilt2bigger console, longer interrupts are blocked
16:50.15hycbigger as in more pixels, or more log lines?
16:50.16WisTilt2thats why people see wakes quick in the beginning then fade to longer and longer as the device console fills up

17:06.07Alex[sp3dev]WisTilt2: have you copied jbruneaux libs?
17:06.12jonpryhrm. do we need .27 code?
17:06.19WisTilt2hyc: no, you need to program the actual light sensor hardware to enable the polled mode.
17:07.20WisTilt2jonpry, well, if we want to have sound work like .27 yes, but im hard coding audio routing temporarily just to get basic sound working then i'll get all the acoustic stuff tied in.
17:07.57Alex[sp3dev]WisTilt2: why don't you just copy acoustic and patch qdsp5 like in my tree?
17:08.38hycWisTilt2: so there is no code in the current kernel source that already does this setup for the light sensor?
17:08.51WisTilt2Alex[sp3dev]: this source has much more needed to make just that patch work i think.  seems it has a weird variation of acoustic and part of .27 in it.
17:09.01hycand, as far as polling goes, can we make it interrupt driven instead?
17:09.05WisTilt2hyc, no.  i never added that to the kernel
17:09.15hycok
17:09.32WisTilt2i can give you all the register init info though, i have that all figured out.
17:09.39hycgreat
17:09.58WisTilt2i really dont want to mess with it, .27 that is, so i'll give you the info for all that and you can do the coding:)
17:10.05hycheh ok
17:10.13hycI'd be happy to do it in .35 instead ;)
17:10.33WisTilt2im doing it in .35 but going to do it different than it is done in .27

17:11.29WisTilt2hyc, standby and ill get the light sensor info you'll need.
17:11.32hychmmm. well, we don't want to have to fix libsensors twice. better make sure we expose the same kernel interface.
17:16.52WisTilt2hyc: you familiar with writing to the panel registers already?
17:17.23hycnot really. just know what I've seen so far in microp-klt.c etc.
17:18.01WisTilt2you're going to need to use something like the client_data->remote_write in the board panel file to setup the light sensor
17:18.35hycok
17:18.44Alex[sp3dev][acl]: here's a splash screen for ya http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/52/poopdroid.png
17:19.17WisTilt2pretty simple once you look at that code.  here's the order of registers you need to setup to enable sensor, followed by how to read the ambient light readings back from sensor...
17:20.07hycis it a setup once, read whenever, or setup before each read?
17:20.53WisTilt2setup once, however, if you have panel autobl enabled i believe will reset the state so probably just need to set it up each time

17:37.10WisTilt2hyc: set 0x5e03 - 0x01 to enable the a/d converter for light sensor.   read MSB from 0x5a00 and LSB from 0x5b00.  Valid range is only the lower 10 bits (from the 16 bit total) and reflects the light levels on the sensor.  You might also need to enable bit 4 in 0x5300 depending on whether panel autobl is enabled or disabled.
17:37.39hycok, thx
17:37.46hycwill go off and try it out
17:38.21hycany reason to save/restore 0x5300?
17:38.24WisTilt2ok, ill be here another 2hrs or so.  let me know if you need anything else but this should be all the info to get it going.
17:38.33hycor just assume autobl will do what it needs when it wants it?
17:38.54WisTilt2yes you need to preserve the other bits in 0x5300
