15:54.45the_fishif i start it up it starts extracting files.... takes a while.... then says "Booting Debian/GNU Linux" and says unpacking again.... takes a while again and then it does it in a loop, just a little faster
15:55.07the_fishat the moment im trying to dpkg-deb the files by myself and see if i can boot it then.... much work tho

19:12.08the_fish<--- noob
19:12.26the_fishmandriva wont boot again.... gotta fix it first
19:23.02the_fishtmzt, now it keeps hanging at: "Freeing init memory: 96K" no error messages...... just hanging.... by the way, the /dev folder looks pretty empty.... maybe it has problems finding some other /dev entries?
19:24.33tmztthe_fish: did you compile the kernel?
19:25.04the_fishall i did is downloading the debian-eabi rootfs and using the zImage i used together with other distros
19:25.25the_fishalso i copied the zImage to /boot, dunno whether that was necessary
19:25.54tmztare the others also eabi?
19:26.07the_fishi guess so, otherwise they wouldnt work i guess ;)
19:26.24the_fishthe best working so far is the Angstrom/Opie one
19:26.46tmztdo you have a copy of .config or /proc/config.gz ?
19:27.09the_fishon one of the other distros? just a sec gotta search
19:27.58the_fishon the angstrom install theres no such file
19:29.35tmztyou have to boot the kernel to get /proc/config.gz
19:29.48the_fishalright, so the system has to be up and running?
19:29.49tmztbut we can check your libraries on the debian eabi
19:29.58tmztyeah
19:30.36the_fishhmm okay, but one question in advance: i've read about ALoGeNo running debian eabi on the universal, thats why im trying it out.... since titchy doesnt work
19:30.54the_fishbut i wasnt sure, whether the xScale is actually eabi compatible....
19:31.02tmzttitchy is supposed to be eabi now
19:31.11the_fishok... should work then
19:31.29the_fishonly problem i had on titchy was the inittab... dunno what it has to look like on titchy, thats why i left it
19:31.33tmztyes it's compatible, the question is does your kernel support AEABI and OABI_COMPAT
19:31.51tmztwhat happened with titchy?
19:32.23the_fishokay.... thats the story lol: at first i just copied the rootfs over and ran it, gave me an unpacking and Booting Debian/GNU Linux loop
19:32.38the_fishso i dpkg-deb'd all the debs on the rootfs, and ran it again
19:32.46the_fishand then i had the problem with the inittab
19:32.53tmztdpkg-deb -x ?
19:32.56the_fishyep
19:33.08tmztthat doesn't work well with debian
19:33.35the_fishhmmm alright.... i will just switch to debian eabi i guess :)

21:37.20Kevin2tmzt: I believe USB uses DMA, so you can't directly trace the reads/writes. You could theoretically trace the dma setup, and then extend haret to pull the data - I don't know if it would work or how hard it would be.  Another possibility would be to try and trace library calls someway.
21:38.40tmztwe are looking into writing a proxy serial driver but I don't have platform myself
21:39.13tmztI also have some modem reset gpios to try that might just give me some idea what's going on
