09:10.33goxboxlivegood morning
09:29.26pH5good morning
09:30.18goxboxlivemhi pH5 oh man i give up OE soon.
09:55.30goxboxliveI wish there where another easy way to create images.
10:00.21cr2goxboxlive: i've compiled opie2 manually, but there were 2 problems.
10:02.30cr2the first problem is that libobex* depends on libusb, and the build system does not catch it properly.
10:02.58cr2so i had to hand-edit some 10-20 Makefile.target
10:03.04cr2adding -lusb
10:04.01cr2and the second problem comes from tslib, alsa and bt not integrated in ~/3rdparty tree.
10:04.56cr2so i'm forced to add the ${STAGING}/lib and ${STAGING}/include to configure file
10:05.50cr2that confuses the host moc/rcc/uic compilation, because they pick up the libdl.so for arm.
10:07.12goxboxlivecr2 i c. But did you had the libusb in you LIB PATH (did you set LIBPATH in your configure?)
10:07.29cr2minor glitches like defining errno and memset/memcpy instead of including stdlib.h and errno.h aside.
10:07.51cr2what is LIBPATH ?
10:08.06cr2i've added the htcphone xplatform
10:08.11goxboxlive-L/PATH_TO YOUR LIBS
10:08.27goxboxlivei have them in /usr/local/arm/lib like BabelO
10:08.28cr2to override the arm-linux- by -eabi
10:08.35cr2no.
10:08.52cr2i've removed these from configure
10:08.56goxboxliveok
10:09.30cr2why include them when everything is alread present in ~/{STAGING}
10:09.47cr2or should be.
10:10.00goxboxliveyes, maybe Qtopia is looking for another name or something
10:10.10goxboxlivelike libusb-0
10:10.25cr2the only problem here is to restrict these 'includes' for the target system.
10:10.47cr2no, it's plain -lusb that resolves the problem.
10:11.02cr2why obex needs usb ?
10:11.09goxboxlivecr2 did you take a look at the bb filke i sent you. I think it is something in there.
10:11.14cr2or at least resolved it for me.
10:11.30goxboxlivei dont know, maybe usb-bluettoh host?
10:11.41cr2hmm. ok.
10:12.05goxboxlivecr2 do you have a up2dta e OE build system?
10:12.12cr2i've looked but i didn't want to patch the oe tree.
10:12.19cr2yes.
10:12.36cr2you know, i hate custom patches :)
10:12.38goxboxlivecould you try out seomthing for me. Try bitbake libstdc++6 -crebuild
10:12.49goxboxlivei c
10:12.50cr2ok.
10:13.23cr2i'll update oe now.
10:14.03goxboxliveOne of the OE devs told me to do my hoemworjk before i asked a qustion about libstdc++6 where removed or if it was mys sytem that where broken.
10:14.07cr2btw, do you build full qtopia ?
10:14.20goxboxlivewhat do you mean by full?
10:14.37cr2without any "pda" omissions
10:14.37goxboxlivei build with, helix, dbus, BT and alsa yes
10:14.57cr2the disabled features.
10:15.05cr2like filedialog.
10:15.11goxboxlivecr2 i have no idea, i just build I havent disabled anything
10:15.20goxboxliveBut just so you are aware of this
10:15.37cr2qconfig-something.
10:15.45goxboxliveif you want to reconfigure you dont have to reconfigure qte and so.
10:16.20cr2i've used the BabelO config, so it uses the default qconfig-
10:16.24goxboxliveadd -skip-qte -skip-dqt -skip-qt to your comnfigure line and then it will only rebuild Qtopia stuff.
10:16.48cr2so i can't compile roadmap now.
10:16.52goxboxlivebeacuse to build the buildsystem takes ages
10:16.58goxboxlivewhy
10:17.19cr2because of missing QFileDialog
10:17.34goxboxlivei c
10:17.43cr2therefore i suggested to build the full qtopia from the very beginning.
10:17.44ljpyou can configure qt how you want
10:17.55cr2please not that zaurus stupidity once again.
10:18.06ljpit would be interesting to see the size difference
10:18.15cr2ljp: yes, i know. and we have already done it.
10:18.25ljpstupidity?
10:18.29cr2i only wanted to be sure that goxboxlive does it.
10:18.42goxboxlivecr2 does what?
10:19.45cr2ljp: the binary incompatibility between zaurus and opie
10:19.45goxboxliveahh i c
10:19.46cr2disabled text rotation for example.
10:19.46cr2and other missing symbols.
10:20.18cr2ljp: goxboxlive has already compiled opie2 with empty qconfig.
10:20.36cr2because i hit these problems with qlandkarte.
10:22.06goxboxlivepsokolovsky_ are you awake?
10:22.18psokolovsky_Hi!
10:22.28goxboxlivepsokolovsky_ hi, still mad at me?
10:22.43psokolovsky_goxboxlive: ??? what you mean?
10:23.09goxboxlivepsokolovsky_ i asked a questian at OE for an hour ago, wich i shouldnt. Koen freaked out.
10:23.40goxboxliveI just asked if libstdc++6 where removed or if it was my system wich where broken.
10:23.41psokolovsky_well, you know, that happens from time to time with everyone ;-)
10:23.49cr2goxboxlive: can you explain me which app needs libstdc++6 ?
10:24.03goxboxliveI need libstdc++6 to run OpieII
10:24.10cr2which app ?
10:24.13goxboxlivepsokolovsky_ do you know if it is removed or not?
10:24.18psokolovsky_(freak out on sth I mean ;-))
10:24.18cr2or which library.
10:24.48cr2as in "who needs these symbols"
10:24.49goxboxliveseems like qpe needs it  and i knopw mediaserever needs it
10:25.07goxboxlivei cant ldd now, i am at work
10:25.13psokolovsky_goxboxlive: well, it cannot be removed, it standard C++ library
10:25.23cr2goxboxlive: ok. we should.
10:25.44cr2psokolovsky_: the qt can be compiled without STL.
10:25.55cr2and i never use STL myself :)
10:25.55psokolovsky_goxboxlive: -rw-rw-r-- 1 pfalcon pfalcon 231192 2007-05-23 10:08 libstdc++6_4.1.2-r4_armv5te.ipk
10:26.05goxboxlivepsokolovsky_but when i do bitbake libstdc++6 i get no providar.
10:26.20psokolovsky_cr2: well, STL is one thing, C++ runtimelib is another ;-)
10:26.45psokolovsky_goxboxlive: that cannot work, you bitbake *recipe*, not package
10:26.48cr2ok, so i'm just curious.
10:27.11psokolovsky_goxboxlive: OE: gcc-cross-4.1.2
10:27.19goxboxlivepsokolovsky_ i'll show you with pastebin what i mean. yes 4.1.2
10:33.17pH5goxboxlive: psokolovsky_ meant: libstdc++ is built by the gcc-cross recipe. bitbake gcc-cross, and you should get your libstdc++.
10:34.12goxboxlivepsokolovsky_ here you can see what i mean. For two weeks agoo building this image where no problem: http://pastebin.no/2169
10:34.17psokolovsky_ah, yep, that's what I meant. "OE" is the field in ipk's control file which tells from which recipe the package was generated
10:35.34goxboxlivepH5 ok, but since i allready have libstdc++6 in my deploy , why wouldnt it install to my console image? Is it because it where created with another gcc-cross?
10:37.04psokolovsky_goxboxlive: well, weird. but maybe inded there's some issue with the ipk.
10:37.31goxboxlivepsokolovsky_ right, i am rebuildning gcc-cross now to see if that will help.
10:37.40cr2goxboxlive: i'm rebuilding gcc now.
10:37.42goxboxlivethnaks for help
10:38.10goxboxliveNOTE: Applying patch '300-libstdc++-pic.patch'
10:38.45cr2NOTE: Applying patch '602-sdk-libstdc++-includes.patch'
10:38.59goxboxliveyes i got that one also
10:44.34psokolovsky_goxboxlive: use "libstdc++". And if you ever hear me larting devian package renaming, say "yep-yep" in support ;-)
10:45.05cr2:)
10:45.15cr2recompiling glibc
10:46.36*** join/#htc-linux RoEn (n=roen@p54A66711.dip.t-dialin.net)
10:54.59goxboxlivepsokolovsky_ :-) Now i am happy, removing the "6" actually helped. How did you know? The ipk is named libstdc++6_ . Thanks alot, i am back in busniuess
11:00.13psokolovsky_well, I'm now a bit trained to catch debian renaming related issues ;-). that behavior barely makes sense, if you think about it, for example, if major revision will be bumped, and ipk will become 7, dependent recipes will still work. But there may be unpleasant surprises like this if you don't keep that renaming in mind...
11:00.37goxboxliveright
11:02.21cr2hdd full.
11:02.50cr2oe ate 20GB
11:03.07cr2cleaning the mess.
11:11.04goxboxlive:-) i cleaned up yesterday, i had 6 opiII source trees :-)
11:41.49goxboxliveHave i forgot something: http://pastebin.no/2171
11:42.54goxboxliveNow it ask for libstdc++ wich doesnt exist. The one in my deploy folder is named libstdc++6. I treid to make a copy of it and named it just libstdc++_* but that didnt help either.
11:43.10goxboxlivewounder what i can do now to override this.
11:50.33goxboxliveso you can say taht i am not so happy after all then :-/

12:18.46cr2i've looked at the rdmxchange output.
12:19.20cr2unfirtunately i've failed to backport it.
12:20.12tsdogshm. too many changes at the rdm format?
12:20.32cr2the "standard" qtopia does not have qfiledialog
12:20.44cr2not the format, but the infrastructure.
12:21.09cr2variable number of layers, for  example.
12:21.23tsdogscr2: hmm, ok, that's why it was built from scratch in qt3 then
12:22.17tsdogscr2: well that's a nice feature to have.
12:22.48cr2probably the phone owner should not get access to the files directly ;)
12:22.48cr2the file manager on a780 is also crippled.
12:22.48tsdogs:)
12:23.21cr2it does not show certain files/directories and you can't just access /
12:23.43cr2even wince is better ;)
12:23.49tsdogs:)
12:23.57cr2but not much.
12:24.34cr2you only get the combobox with "allowed" names.
12:25.13tsdogs:)
12:25.13cr2lol.
12:25.16cr2so crippled qtopia is even more restricted than wince.
12:25.34cr2thanks God m$ products are so insecure :)
12:27.06cr2ok. i've understood the metadata in roadmap.
12:27.13tsdogswell running the environment as root is not really that secure :)
12:27.50cr2yeah.
12:28.19cr2unfortunately the metadata is effectively ignored.
12:28.38cr2and there is no way to see it in a sane way.
12:28.52cr2rdminfo :)
12:29.22tsdogscr2:  WARNING:  nonstandard use of \' in a string literal

12:29.35cr2looking at the rdmxchange output, i think that it's very easy to write the rdm2mif converter.

12:31.24cr2which is part of postgis.
12:31.35tsdogs:)
12:32.14cr2ok. i get it. CANALE D'...
12:32.46tsdogsyes it simply tells you to use '' insthead of \' for escaping
12:33.04cr2yes.
12:34.12cr2that's why i prefer | separated data.
12:34.27cr2if not <tab> separated.
12:35.44tsdogsok, let's go for the rdminfo.
12:35.56tsdogswhat is the data I should extract from it?
12:36.49cr2look at the rdmxchange.
12:37.19tsdogsok
12:37.34tsdogscr2: I have builded the map.
12:37.37cr2there is a global section.
12:37.38cr2ok.
12:38.15cr2btw, just run rdmxchange on some .rdm file.
12:38.31cr2unfortunately it does not write to stdout.
12:38.36tsdogson amd64, and it works :)
12:38.42cr2but creates a file itself.
12:38.53cr2does the map work ? :)
12:38.58tsdogsyes :)
12:39.10cr2route planning ?
12:39.37cr2there are some not 4byte aligned structs in the source.
12:39.47tsdogscr2: wait
12:41.02tsdogsyes it works
12:41.39cr2ok.
12:41.58cr2but the graph is bigendian because of some funny code.
12:42.13cr2we may try to change it.
12:43.07cr2found.
12:43.10cr2typedef struct {
12:43.10cr2<PROTECTED>
12:43.11cr2<PROTECTED>
12:43.11cr2<PROTECTED>
12:43.11cr2} RoadMapLongLine;
12:43.40cr2can be 'int cfcc'
12:44.13cr2and this is the root of all evil:
12:44.16cr2typedef struct { /* tables bysquare1 and bysquare2 */
12:44.16cr2<PROTECTED>
12:44.16cr2<PROTECTED>
12:44.16cr2} RoadMapLineBySquare;
12:44.18tsdogsok, so then we have 65535 layers with unsigned int
12:44.26tsdogs:)
12:44.41cr2tsdogs: 255 layers.
12:44.49cr2ROADMAP_CATEGORY_RANGE
12:45.27cr2is different in "standard" editor, latest CVS editor, and "our" editor
12:45.52tsdogscr2: ok
12:45.57cr2mainline CVS has different infrastructure to solve this problem.
12:46.26cr2i think the number of layers should be in the metadata.
12:46.36cr2and probably the layer names.
12:46.50tsdogsand types too
12:46.57cr2so you don't see the blank screen if your schema does not match.
12:47.10cr2yes.
12:47.18cr2btw, i need to make a patch.
12:47.25cr2railroad is not road.
12:47.45cr2'Road' is something where you can search for addresses.
12:47.56tsdogscr2: is there a way to have different routing info?
12:48.11cr2tsdogs: ?
12:48.19cr2you can edit the .mp file
12:48.20tsdogswhat I mean is that if you are a pedestrian you could see railroad as routable
12:48.47cr2it's up to you how you build the graph.
12:49.09tsdogsok
12:49.22cr2the graph is actually separate from the programm.
12:49.34cr2you can create it with 'cr_from_a'

18:11.19BabelOi read in log, some interest for cross compile :)
18:11.40goxboxlive++
18:12.05BabelOto cross compile just edit a Makefile.target take line in comment at top of file that use qmake, and start it on your project, then cross compile should be ok ;)
18:13.31goxboxlivei have tried, but it failes for me.
18:14.06BabelOwhat you want to compile ?
18:14.34goxboxliveI tried out some QT4 applications
18:15.47BabelOi tried qlandkarte, and it compile :)

18:18.24BabelOno
18:18.29goxboxliveBabelO, but how do you configure?
18:19.15BabelOi use qmake <file>.pro
18:19.45goxboxliveBabelO, what if a *.pro file doent exist?
18:19.47BabelOthe bug line qmake in top of each Makefile.target in opieII
18:20.11BabelOno pro file ??? strange
18:21.27goxboxliveTake a look at sim at qt4-apps . Seems like a intresting application. but it doesnt contain any pro file.
18:24.59BabelOdo you have link to web site ?
18:29.09goxboxliveBabelO, hold on
18:31.48goxboxliveBabelO, it was this one, but this one depends on Qt3 and not Qt4 as i thought. http://www.qt-apps.org/content/show.php/SIM+Instant+Messenger?content=50206

22:14.53goxboxliveno i havent

22:17.00cr2then opie2 needs some way to translate KEY_POWER to something internal.
